High School Programs

We know the key to success starts with a solid education.

Programming

In the High School Program at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Glacier Country we serve youth in ninth Grade through twelfth Grade.

Our programming focuses on 5 core areas:

  • Character & Leadership Development
  • Education & Career Development
  • Health & Life Skills
  • The Arts
  • Fitness & Sports Recreation

Daily programming consists of students participating in various activities such as STEM projects, homework help, leadership development, sports & recreation as well as audio visual classes. During their afternoons at the Club all youth receive a health snack provided by partners throughout the community.

We pride ourselves on exposing youth to things they may never see in school or their home lives such as field trips into Glacier National Park, various service projects and exposure to different job opportunities throughout the community.

When the youth enter our doors, they are greeted by our caring staff that meet them where they are in life and invest their time and talents into each child.

Educational programming in our High School Program focuses on STEM activities, Power Hour, Money Matters, CareerLaunch and Diplomas to Degrees.

Our STEM activities help our teens make connections between scientific principles and real-world applications.

Through Power Hour our staff focus on helping students finish up their homework and catch up on any lingering school projects so they are able to stay on top of their grades.

Money Matters helps to equip our youth with the skill and knowledge to handle money by making it fun and relatable with real life scenarios.

CareerLaunch is a job-readiness and career-preparation program that offers a variety of activities to hone teens’ decision-making, problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Youth get a chance to explore various careers in the surrounding community based on their interests and talents.

Diplomas to Degrees is designed to guide and prepare our teen members to post-secondary education so they can gain the knowledge and skills needed to develop and maintain successful careers, whether that be a 4-year institute or technical school.

Our High School Program also focuses on the development of good character and leadership through our Keystone Club.

In the Keystone Club our High School students are afforded the opportunity to gain valuable leadership and service experience. They conduct activities in four main areas: academic success, career exploration, community service and teen outreach. Being a role model for their fellow classmates and friends is a key part in what drives the Keystone Club.

Promoting healthy lifestyles is also key in our programming as we aim to help youth avoid participating in early deviant behavior such as drug and alcohol abuse as well as sexual activity.

We accomplish this in our teen program through three programs:

Passport to Manhood addresses critical issues that young men face during the passage from boyhood to manhood such as ethics, decision-making, wellness, employment and careers, cooperation and conflict, diversity, relationships and self-esteem.

SMART Girls helps girls develop and adopt a healthy attitude and lifestyle, as well as acquire and maintain a positive self-concept, sound decision-making skills and mentoring relationships.

Triple Play is a program that aims to improve youths’ knowledge of healthy habits, good nutrition and physical fitness; increase the number of hours per day they participate in physical activities; and strengthen their ability to interact positively with others and engage in healthy relationships.

Location

In Columbia Falls, youth in grades ninth through twelfth are located at Columbia Falls High School whose address is 610 13th Street W. in Columbia Falls. Our programming operates out of the Library which is on the bottom level of the High School.
